No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses....

I'm blaring a new [to me] favorite Christmas song throughout our whole house this week.  And I must ask --- AM I THE ONLY PERSON IN AMERICA WHO HAS NEVER HEARD "I WANT A HIPPOPOTAMUS FOR CHRISTMAS" before???  Please, please tell me I'm not?

My family is absolutely baffled by this as the song is apparently a super well known Christmas song, created back in the 1950's.  I'm sad that I've missed out on it all of these years... I LOVE IT....and I'm quite certain Jackson does too.  He  may or may not have to have a hippo in his stocking.  Because you, know....I'm guessing by Sunday he'll be able to sing the following (keep in mind that he's an above average 6-month old -- very advanced!):

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!
I just read the history of the song --- so cute.
Here's an interesting fact about the popular Christmas hippopotamus song - in 1953 a ten-year-old girl from Oklahoma, Gayla Peevey sang the song as a way to raise money for the Oklahoma City Zoo's first hippopotamus. It became a nationwide hit after that, although John Rox wrote the song "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" in 1950!

IN OTHER NEWS ---
1.)  If you didn't hear about the ***chevron pillow giveaway*** I'm hosting...check it out!!!  Seriously - like 3 people read my blog, so your chances of winning are favorable if you just leave a comment! ;)
2.)  Jackson made his first visit to see Santa Claus yesterday..... here are a few photos!  He was tired by the time we got to see Santa [for real - strategic planning is required to get a good photo of a mini...wow!].  Anyway, he was hot and tired by the time we got up there, so a smile just wasn't happening!  He was a champ though and just sat in his lap like it was no big deal... truthfully, I'm sure he was thinking "seriously, Mom, can we just go home.... have a snack and a nap... and get out of this annoying outfit that's way too hot for the current 70+ degree weather.....OH, AND MAYBE LISTEN TO THE HIPPOPOTAMUS SONG **ONE** MORE TIME"???

Hubs sings that song to me every Christmas but changes the word "hippo" to my name. That one and Melekeleke Maka are two of my favorites!
